Hey thanks for the discussions. I think......
PNG is undeveloped no beacsue of the resources. We have all the resources in unlike many other countries in the world. Or not even the age of the country as mentioned. It is the attitude of the people that determines a nation.

Some countries like India and Egypt that are more than 2000 years are still poor. On the other hand, countries like Canada, Australian and New Zealand 150 years old that were very poor are developed and rich countries today.

We are not poor because we lack natural resources or its only 30 years old or the government is failing us. It is because we lack attitude. I think PNG will only develop if we change our attitudes and prevail accountability, tranparency, and good gavernance in all works of live as many pronounce.

This is in relation to Rips Amessi to answer his question "How on earth will we have pride about PNG if the people and even the nature is depriving our human rights?"
PNG is undeniably a third world country, because of its young age and that most of the country is undeveloped and lacks the vital resources.......However whatever the circumstances this country may face,we must continue to uphold our pride. It is our pride that seperates us from those poor African nation,we have every reason to be proud of our great nation,it is the most diverse nation on the planet, and as you are aware it boasts vibrant cultures and traditons,a geograhically untouched beautiful nation and many more reasons to be proud of that you'll ever know......We should never use our weaknesses and failures to hinder our pride,we must always continue to hold that pride, because that will bring this nation forward.....

Unfortunately you are correct. I just tore strips off the Post Courier; 3 years ago I gave them documented evidence of corruption with Lands Dept. They chose not to publish. Now they want to jump on the bandwagon because of public opinion about Unagi Park (by the way, David Unagi was a thug: I once saw him put the boot into a pregnant woman at The Crown Plaza. How can people claim he was a saint?) Does anybody doubt that politicians financially gained by selling that land and re-zoning it? We have not reached the African levels of corruption but some individual "leaders" no doubt aspire to that. Our press is not strong enough to stop them, one being gutless and the other owned by a Malaysian logging company. It will take a concerted and long term effort by all of us to do that and it will not be easy. If we support each other it will be easier.

Guys, can somebody out there answer this question? We know that our beautiful country of PNG is rich enough but yet it still poor and it is no better than one of the African countries where millions of people die every year due to curable diseases, hunger and poverty, starvation and the list goes on.The quetion is,what will we as Papua New Guineans be proud about while our brothers and sisters are: homeless and going hungry in the rural areas due to continuous disasters; youths roaming the streets of our major towns and cities int the country due to unemployments,no enough school fees to persue their studies and many more reasons. Our government is corrupt and the system in the country now is,the poor is still getting poorer while the rich is getting more richer and it takes almost halp a year for a rural dweller to have a bar of klina soap just to wash the unhygenicbody and the same overused clothes while our politicians are wasting millions of kina just to purchase a toy balus called the Falcon jet just for the benefit of the minority. Our Law and Order in the country has no justice in it,i.e,a person who steals a packet of rice in a shop just to fill his hungry stomack and his poor family in the evenig as a dinner is punished more severely than a politician or a public servant who steals millions of kina just to satisfy his or her greedy thummy. How on earth will we have pride about PNG if the people and even the nature is depriving our human rights? Please,I want someone out there to think critically and answer my quetion..10 Q - Bata Rips....

Yes I agree with you Random. And I think it's time also for our leaders to step & try to help contain or prevent this from deadly virus from spreading it's better to act now than later. Its time our leaders be proactive in their decisions, coz the sooner we try as a nation the better chances we have.

Yes I have to admit it is scary, especially with the fact that PNG isnt equiped to handle this epidemic........This flu can prove to be deadly with people with weak immune systems e.g the young and the elderely........There needs to be a mass scale of awareness through the media about the symptoms and how to prevent it,thats the only way.Once the flu is in the country we need to contain it from spreading,we must unite and fight this dreadful swine flu! To be honest but it's as scarry as it is now, it's all over the media and tension is at it's toll.As people become more nervous. There has been reports that this deadly virus A(H1N1) Swine Flu was brought in by a prominent business man who travels in & out but I cannot justify that. I just hope something is done about this and fast.....Proud PNG Citizen
