For Certain every country around the globe have legal restriction on Alcohol in terms of age and Papua New Guinea is no exemption to that. For example, In the late 1980s teengers were normally not allowed to enter public pumbs, hotels or even buy alcohol in Shops as I have seen. Meaning there is a Legal Drinking Age in PNG. But the problem is that this principles /(laws) are not considered serously today.

I think underage drinking is a real problem in our society. Don't these kids who are drinking feel embarrassed that they are drinking out of someone elses pockets and acting all big when they are drunk that is just ridiculous. Snap out of it grow up get a real job and pay for your own booze............

Good point Ommie, yeah if underage drinkers want to get drunk they should buy their own alchohol.........I know the legal drinking age,I just wanted to see if the regular PNGean knew it................

That is a good question, because today many children under the age of 18 are drinking like big adults who have a well paid job or I should say who are financially independent. Ithink the legal drinking age is 18 and above and not below that;in PNG where we are still observing our cultures and traditions the right time to drink should be at the time the particular person is financially independent, because by then he/she can fend for hilself/herself.I think the legal age to drink should be 18.

Yep it is 18 years of age......I dont believe this law is effective, there needs to be more regulations in bars and liquor outlets.e.g you need to provide an I.D to purchase alchohol.

Well, it should be 18 and above, as indicated by many. I once came across a small gathering of some grade 8 students. They were totally drunk, one got up and told his other mate " hi poro, mitupla pinisim grade 8 pinis na mipla gen kisim wara. His mate replied, "poro yumi bikpla mangi yaaaaaa." What a Sheet!! Anywhere maybe the law has changed recently, I hope so, we are heading towards a mine pit if the government can't do a thing to impose though measures. Those youngone are the future leaders.

Yeah its terrifying! We should have stricter restrictions in place when purchasing alcohol, outlets should only sell alcohol to civilians with identification(ID)......This country needs more restictions and regulations in the alcoholic and tobacco industries......
